We are organising an auction to support the work of the Studio of Joyful Creation. All the auctioned paintings will be on display in the Hilton Hotel lobby from September 30 - October 4, and afterwards we will be happy to welcome you to our studio to view the works. Since 2013, we have been operating in Prague as the Czech equivalent of what is usually called a creative studio abroad: we create a space for artists who are unclassifiable and non-standard - and are very often misunderstood, undervalued or even rejected by mainstream society. However, thanks to the growing interest in art brut, i.e. “art in its raw state”, an atmosphere for appreciating and supporting such personalities is emerging. So we are happy to be able to offer quality and original works and to see the interest in them. The point of a creative studio is to create a space - and not mess anything up. Not to interfere with the natural creative process. Creative studios do not include art therapy or so-called leisure activities. No directing or “art guidance”: our best experience is just to provide good quality art materials and professional facilities. The most important thing will arise from the inner need of the artists themselves. More than twenty artists have gone through the Studio of Joyful Creation. Currently, there are about sixteen artists actively working here. They can come up to five times a week at their own choice. The opportunity to create free of charge is supported by the sale of works, in which the Studio of Joyful Creation represents the artists. However, the artists still receive 40% of the sale price. You can get to know the work of the Studio at exhibitions; every year we organize about ten of them. We organize large group exhibitions in prestigious galleries (DOX Contemporary Art Centre) as well as in unconventional or newly discovered spaces that correspond in spirit to our work (in Prague, for example, the former House of Art Industry or Hybernská 4). We have a long-standing collaboration with Vladimír Kokolia and his students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, with whom we have already organized three joint exhibitions under the title Art is Only One! Some of our artists have already received international acclaim, such as Karel Pajma, who had an exhibition at the Christian Berst Gallery in Paris and the Czech Center in New York, or Ladislav Svoboda, who had exhibitions in Krakow and Nuremberg.
